Sailing Through The Winter Solstice begins in November each year, when a number of boats, transformed through the creative minds of many Frederick friends, set sail on the Creek. The fleet has grown from one boat in the first year to 28 sailing boats and 1 landlocked boat in the 2025-26 season. The boats are anchored in Carroll Creek, between Market Street and Carroll Street. Friday, December 12th, 6:30pm to 8:00pm at South Carroll Street to East Patrick Street, turns right onto N. Market Street, and then turns left onto West Second Street, ending at Baker Park.
The Kris Kingle Procession mirrors the small town charm that makes Frederick so special during the holidays. A parade of local organizations, youth clubs, and musical groups accompanies costumed characters (some modern, some traditional) through Frederick’s downtown streets.
Saturday, December 13th, 10:00am to 9:00pm at various locations throughout downtown Frederick.
Each weekend for the first three December Saturdays, you’ll find something special happening! Streets are filled with musicians and carolers performing your favorite holiday classics, fire pits are set up all around town so you can warm up and roast a marshmallow as you stroll between shops, and your eyes will be dazzled by a spectacular display of holiday lights and decorations.
